Diseases of The Intestines

Use of contaminated water and diet, Disorders of liver and stomach, teething period in children, intestinal worms and bad weather causes diarrhoea and dysentery. Avoidance from hygienic principle is also a specific reason for this disease.

Patient complains of abdominal pain, tenesmus, frequent passing of stool with mucous or blood.

Dysentery is of two types Zaheer-e-Sadiq (Amoebic dysentery) Zaheer –e- Kazib (Bacillary dysentery)

In Zaheer-e- Sadiq patient complains of mucous in the stool while in Zaheer-e-Kazib blood with stool is passing. In case of frequent loose motions many vital fluids are deprived from the body and patient faces a threat for life

Carelessness in diets, not chewing the diet properly, use of constipating items in routine diet and weak intestinal peristaltic movements cause constipation. If the patient remains bed ridden for a long period due to illness or old age then constipation is likely to occur.

Large intestine (Colon) becomes dry and obstructed by faecal mass, which does not permit proper evacuation. Patient strains for evacuation and often patient does not pass stool for many days. Patient may suffer from headache, anorexia, and abdominal complaints, hernia, spermatorrhoea, prostate gland's disorders and piles. If constipation persists for a long time, these complaints are very harmful for the patients of cardiac diseases and hypertension.

Complication in chronic constipation or long standing dysentery causes piles, which is of two types:- Non bleeding piles and bleeding piles (Hemorrhoids). In Non bleeding piles patient feels pain but do not bleed while in bleeding piles blood comes after evacuation or mixed with stool. In fact piles is a part of inflamed blood vessels found in rectum. When these become more inflamed, prolapse from rectum and patient feels discomfort, pain and irritation in the rectum and anus.

Fistula is also a type of ulceration, which has its two openings one in the rectum and one out side the rectum. Opening in rectum receive fecal dirt which infect the fistula again and again. Very dirty and foul secretion often flows from fistula and due to pain in it, patient cannot sit or stand properly

Not following hygienic principles like drinking contaminated water, eating vegetables and fruits without cleaning and not cutting nails of hands causes intestinal worms known as intestinal parasites. They are of many types but familiar ones are threadworm, pinworm, round worms and tape worms and these are observed in faces. They make their place in small intestines and caecum, use to come back in stomach from small intestines and excrete while vomiting. In females these parasites often travel form anus to vagina where they cause vaginal diseases also.
